Latina 50 Plus™ Programs
The Annual Latina 50 Plus™ Luncheon/Award Ceremony held annually to honor Latinas 50 and up in the fields of Art, Community Service, Education, Healthcare/Medicine, Law and Literature. The program consists of a Breakfast Networking workshops followed by the lunch. Currently the program is offered virtually until further notice. The 8th Annual Award Ceremony will take place virtually on Sunday October 17th 1pm-3pm.Details for the event to follow.
Latina 50 Plus Legacy Education Scholarship supports younger Latinas pursuing their education in Higher Education or a career development program. The recipients must be currently enrolled in credited program. They can be pursuing their undergraduate, masters or PH.D. Career development program must be with an accredited institution. Scholarships are awarded during the Latina 50 Plus Luncheon/Award Ceremony. Currently, Latina 50 Plus is only able to award one to two scholarships.
Café Fuerte Mujeres Fuerte Networking Event held annually in March the networking events have been held at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and as a brunch networking program at the South of France restaurant, in the Bronx. The event consists of panel discussions or breakout sessions offered by Honorees in their perspective fields. Some of topics covered have focused on health issues after 50, career development or career changes and community service.
Café Fuerte Mujeres Fuerte Writing Workshops are created for Latina 50 Plus who are interested in writing or journaling. The workshops are 2 hours long and facilitated by authors and faculty members from various colleges and universities. Each Facilitator is invited to create and develop a topic of their choice for the workshop. The workshops have been offered since 2018. The in-person workshops were held at the Poe Visiting Center in the Bronx. Currently the workshops are being offered virtually. Sponsorship from Poets & Writers.
